
Yoga Practice Descriptions
The 2 yoga retreats taught by Maria Wechselberger at Stoksholmeme13 in July 2024 are held in a workshop format so you can learn and master the complete series of exercises in 1-2 days. You can then continue to practice independently at home and integrate yoga into your everyday life. If you need any guidance and support, we are always available.
All teachers who teach Isha Hatha Yoga have completed an intensive 5-month training
at the "Isha Hatha Yoga School" in India. It is one of the best yoga training centers in the
world and follows scientifically verified traditions that are thousands of years old.

01 Upa Yoga
We will be doing a very effective process called Upa-yoga. It is a simple yet powerful system of practices that activate the joints, muscles and energy system. Based on a sophisticated understanding of the body’s mechanics, Upa-yoga brings great ease to the whole system. It relieves physical stress and tiredness. Within the human system, the energy flows along 72,000 pathways called nadis. At the joints, the nadis form energy nodes, making the joints into storehouses of energy. Upa-yoga activates this energy and also lubricates the joints, creating an instant sense of alertness and liveliness. It rejuvenates the body after a period of inactivity and negates the effects of jetlag and long travel.

02 Surya Shakti
Surya Shakti builds the physical body – it makes the sinews and ligaments of your body strong. In Yoga, we give importance to the sinews that hold the skeletal system and the whole body together. When we do any yogic practice, which is physical in nature, the focus is mainly to strengthen those, not to pump up your muscles. Strengthening the sinews of the body is what will endure for a long time and keep you well.
Surya Shakti does this in a tremendous way.
When we say Surya, we are talking about the Sun which is the basic powerhouse of the planet. Life on the planet is solar powered, including human system. Surya Shakti is a way of using that energy. It does wonders for your health, as well as your physical and mental wellbeing.
"Surya" means "Sun" and "Shakti" means "energy". Surya Shakti is a dynamic form of the Sun Salutation which is an ancient yogic practice with a powerful sequence of 18 postures.

03 Surya Kriya
Learn an extremely effective, ancient 21-part exercise series for health, vitality and holistic inner well-being.
Surya Kriya is a powerful ancient yogic practice created as a holistic process for health and inner well-being. Surya Kriya is a complete spiritual process in itself. "Surya" means "sun" and "Kriya" means "internal energy process". Surya Kriya activates the solar plexus to increase the samat prana, or solar heat, in the system. It also balances a person's left and right energy channels, leading to stability in the body and stillness in the mind. This strong foundation becomes the basis for exploring higher dimensions in life. Traditionally accessible only to a select group of yogis, Surya Kriya is now offered by Sadhguru as an all-encompassing spiritual practice ideal for today's hectic pace.
